From Innovation to Production: FutureFuel Delivers a $15M+ Project at Commercial Scale

FutureFuel
Chemical Company

FutureFuel is proud to announce the successful completion of a $15M+ capital project that has taken a new product from laboratory development to full-scale, continuous commercial production.

What began over two years ago in FutureFuel’s development labs is now a fully operational manufacturing process, enabled by the company’s integrated development, scale-up, EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction), and manufacturing capabilities in Batesville, Arkansas.

A defining feature of this project was the ability to move directly from laboratory development to continuous commercial production - a core strength of FutureFuel. Achieving this transition required close collaboration across multiple teams, including Development and Analytical Labs, Process & Project Engineering, the Process Hazard Evaluation & Scale-Up (PHES) Lab, Health & Safety, Maintenance, Utilities, and Construction. Together, these groups ensured the process could be scaled safely, efficiently, and reliably for long-term production.

The completed asset adds significant annual production capacity, strengthening FutureFuel’s manufacturing platform and reinforcing its ability to support customer requirements for production volume, performance, and reliability. This investment reflects FutureFuel’s continued commitment to transforming innovation into commercial reality while building long-term partnerships with customers based on trust, collaboration, and shared success.

What FutureFuels Biodiesel Magazine Cover Story Really Reveals

Biodiesel Magazine put us on the cover for restarting biodiesel production. The more important story, the one manufacturing partners and procurement teams should read, is about the flexible platform behind that decision.

Why Now Is the Best Time to Move Complex Chemical Production From Europe to the United States

For many chemical firms, the “best time” to shift complex production is not a generic future date, it is now, when cost pressures, permitting dynamics, and supply-chain realities are aligning in ways that can reduce risk and improve competitiveness.

Future Proofing Textile Supply Chains: FutureChem™ SSIPA as a PFAS Alternative in Stain Resistance

The carpet and textile manufacturing industries are undergoing a significant transformation. Regulatory bodies worldwide are increasing their scrutiny of traditional chemical treatments and consumer demand is shifting rapidly. Today manufacturers face intense pressure to transition away from traditional polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in consumer goods. This shift forces strategy level executives and tolling managers to rethink their entire supply chain and seek permanent structural solutions for stain resistance. SSIPA or 5-Sodiosulfoisophthalic acid emerges as the premier component for building lasting protection directly into the fiber.
